Selecting Flowers:
- Look for petals and leaves that are bright and vibrant.
- Check for a ridged stem neck.
- Avoid Roses that are to tight. These are stone roses and usually don't
open.
- Trust your instincts- You're the best judge of what's best for you.
- If you have questions ask your florist
- You don't have to go broke to go floral. A single flower can say as
much as a truckload.
- Personalize the arrangement. Tack on a token gift or include flowers
in their favorite color.
Taking care of your flowers:
- Start with a container that gives your flowers room to breathe.
- Make sure the container is clean.
- Cut about an inch off stems, and re-cut every few days.
- Cut stems under water to prevent air bubbles from sealing off the
opening.
- Use a sharp tool like a knife to cut stems.
- Feed Flowers with the provided flower food.
- Remove leaves that would otherwise be submerged in vase water.
- Place flowers in a spot that's not to hot, cold, or drafty.
- Remove flowers that begin to fade. When flowers decay they release a
gas that attacks the rest of the flowers.
Arranging Flowers:
- Choose a container that's about half the height of your stems.
- Be adventurous with containers.
- Let your container act as a backdrop to your bouquet.
- Cut your stems to varying lengths.
- Create a focal point for your bouquet.
- Use odd numbers
- Use color or size to balance the arrangement.
- Add a few tall, straight flowers.
- Fill in space with greens or fill flowers.
- Perfect is imperfection.
